International

The Wennberg International Collaborative is a research network committed to improving healthcare by examining organizational and regional variation in health care resources, utilization, and outcomes. We are a global community of scholars interested in comparative measurement particularly across a country's regions and health care organizations. Our goal is to advance the understanding of the causes and consequences of unwarranted variation (i.e. variation in health care not explained by differences in population needs or preferences) around the world, leading to clinical improvement and policy change. Better health care while slowing the rate of growth in expenditures is our common goal.

The WIC is a joint initiative established by David Goodman of the Center for Health Policy Research at the Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice and Gwyn Bevan of the London School of Economics and Political Science. WIC supports the examination of regional variations beyond our borders through academic networking, research meetings, and mid-career fellowships. We are currently identifying researchers in the global community with similar interests in measuring variation across health care organizations or regions. Exemplars of this type of investigation can be viewed in the “related content” link.
