[2] For each program, we used data for the hospital that carries the same name as the residency program. However, it is important to note that residents in many programs rotate at more than one hospital. For example, at NYU Medical Center, residents spend the majority of their time at Bellevue, a public hospital that has lower utilization and spending patterns compared to the private hospital associated with the program. However, in this paper, we only discuss care delivered at the private hospital, NYU Medical Center.
