        • DENOMINATOR DEFINITION:
        • The denominator included all Medicare beneficiaries age 65-99.

        • NUMERATOR DEFINITION:
        • Nursing home residence was determined using the Minimum Data Set (MDS) file, which includes records for all residents in Medicare or Medicaid-certified nursing homes. A beneficiary had to have a minimum of 100 days in a nursing home setting to be included in the numerator.
