Medicare Spending for Chronically Ill Patients during the Last Two Years of Life

Spending was measured for the population of beneficiaries with one of nine chronic conditions who were enrolled in traditional (fee-for-service) Medicare and died during the measurement period. Reimbursements for each sector include both payments to institutions and payments to physicians for services delivered at each site of care.
